Mortgage CCJ's

Can I have a mortgage if I have CCJs registered against my name

What is a CCJ ?

After the court hearing, the court may issue an order saying you must repay the debt. This order is called a CCJ and will either be for the amount agreed between you and your creditor or, if you can't agree, a payment set by the court. If you have judgments from more than one creditor, the court can combine your debts and make an 'administration order' - saying you must make a single payment every month to be shared by all your creditors.

How do I get rid of a CCJ from my credit file?

If you have had a CCJ against your name, and you have settled it, it is possible to obtain a certificate of satisfaction. Which lets the potential creditors like the mortgage company know that you have paid your debts, however, the record will still show on your credit file for 6 years.

If you have had a CCJ against your name in error then contact the county court, quote them the reference of your credit file and ask them to issue you a Certificate of Cancellation. A CCJ can also be removed from the Registry Trust Records, and therefore your credit file if the debt is paid within one month of the judgement.

If I have a County Court Judgement (CCJ's) can I still get a mortgage?
